Manage categories
Categories group similar products, such as Beverages or Snacks. They make products easier to find at the counter, let you filter the product list, and appear as picture tiles on the Kiosk.
In short
- Go to Inventory › Categories.
- Click + New Category, type a name, optionally add a photo, and click Save.
- Use ✏️ to rename, click Active to hide from the Kiosk, and × to delete an empty category.
You can also create a category while adding a product, or by importing. New category names are added here automatically.
Open the Categories page
- 1 In the left menu, click Inventory › Categories.
- 2 The + New Category button is at the top right.
Understand a category card
Each category is shown as a card with its name and how many products it has.
- 1 Photo — shown on the Kiosk category tiles. Without a photo, the card shows the first letter of the name.
- 2 Active / Inactive — whether the category appears on the Kiosk. Click the badge to switch.
- 3 ✏️ Edit — rename it, or change its photo.
- 4 × Delete — remove it. Only works when the category has no products.
Create a new category
Click + New Category. In the window that opens:
- 1 Category Photo (optional) — click the box and choose a picture. It's resized automatically.
- 2 Category Name * — for example Breakfast. Each name can only be used once.
- 3 Active (shown on Kiosk) — leave ticked so customers see it on the Kiosk.
- 4 Click Save.
Add products to it
The new category appears in the list with 0 products. To put products in it, open each product and pick the category from its Category list. See Edit a product.
Rename a category or change its photo Optional
- 1 Click ✏️ on the category. The Edit Category window opens.
- 2 Change the name (here Groceries becomes Dry Groceries), or click the photo box for a new picture. Then click Save.
Hide a category from the Kiosk Optional
- 1 The renamed category keeps its 2 products.
- 2 Click a green Active badge to switch it to Inactive. Click again to switch it back.
Delete a category Optional
Click × on the category card, then click OK to confirm. Deleting can't be undone.
A category can only be deleted when it has no products. If it still has some, you'll see a message like “"Snacks" still has 1 product — move or delete them first.” Move those products to another category (see Edit a product), then try again.
Filter products by category
On Inventory › Product, use the All Categories list next to the search box to show only one category's products. Click View category breakdown under Stock Value to see how your stock value is split across categories.
